Preparatory works for new permanent street lighting will begin on Cox Street, Hamilton, from Monday 12 January 2026, marking the final stage of the Cox Street project.
This initial stage will involve construction of footings for the new lighting poles.
To minimise disruption, works will be carried out in sections and are expected to take approximately one week, weather permitting.
Once the footings have cured, installation of the permanent light poles is scheduled to begin shortly thereafter.
Temporary solar streetlights currently in place along Cox Street will remain operational until the new permanent lighting have been installed.
Motorists and pedestrians should expect temporary traffic changes, including reduced speed limits and detours while works are underway. Road users are encouraged to take care when travelling through the area and, where possible, consider using an alternative route.
