Kerbside collections
Council provides residents in all towns with a garbage, recycling and FOGO (food organics and garden organics) collection. Non-residential properties may also apply to access the kerbside service.
Where we offer kerbside collection
Collection services are usually restricted to the township boundaries. However, if you live outside these boundaries or on a main road between serviced towns, you may contact council to discuss whether your property can be included in the service.

Out of Zone Combined Two Bin Service
Council acknowledges there are a number of properties within our Shire that don’t have access to kerbside waste collections services. Our new Out of Zone service will allow those residents access to a pre-paid drop off service at their preferred transfer station, at a significantly reduced price.
- $430 pre-paid service which entitles you to:
- 26 x 240 litre equivalent for Recycling; and
- 104 x 120 litre equivalent General Waste drop-off credits for general waste
- Use at any Transfer Station
- Residents will receive an electronic or physical card to present on arrival
If you select "Digital Card", you will be sent an image which you can keep and print out, as well as save to your mobile device (Wallet or Images).
If you select "Physical Card", a card will be available for pickup from Customer Service (111 Brown Street Hamilton) within 10 business days. You will also receive the digital version to your nominated email address.
The new service offers Out of Zone residents waste and recycling disposal at the same price as a normal residential kerbside service, but allows double the volume of general waste to be disposed.
This will be available from 1 September 2025 - 31 August 2026.
Sign up online via the link, or visit Brown Street Customer Service.
Wheelie Bins are not included in the service cost, but can be purchased from your local hardware store.

- Two FREE green waste drop off vouchers for all ratepayers - limit one per visit
- One cubic metre or small trailer, any transfer station

Bin Notices
Our waste contractor may place a sticker on your garbage, FOGO or recycling bin to notify you of problems with your bin, such as contamination, access issues or excessive bin weight. If you have received a sticker on your bin, please make the necessary improvements so that we may continue to service your property.
Report a missed bin
Please contact us within three working days if your bins have not been emptied on collection day. Before you report a missed bin, please double check that you have the right collection day. To report a missed bin, please fill in our online form.
After reporting a missed bin collection, leave your bin out on the nature strip for collection. We aim to have your bin collected within 48 hours and will often be collected the next business day.
Replacing Bins
Bins are the property of the customer. Should your bin be lost or stolen, it will need to be replaced at your cost. Replacement bins can be ordered and paid for with this online form, or by contacting council.
Damaged bins
If your bin is damaged during collection, please contact council.
Derelict properties
Properties with a house that is not habitable may apply for an exemption from the compulsory kerbside waste charge. The owner will need to provide a demolition permit.
