Now in its 39th year, the Murray to Moyne is a major charity cycling relay that sees teams of riders journey from the banks of the Murray River in Mildura and Echuca, all the way to Port Fairy on the Moyne River, with Hamilton's HILAC Centre playing a key role as the overnight stop for cyclists and their support crews. This iconic event has grown into a cornerstone of the regional calendar, drawing together more than 400 participants and over 35 teams from across Victoria and South Australia each year.
Since its beginnings, the Murray to Moyne has raised over $25 million for hospitals and health-related charities, with teams dedicated to fundraising for their chosen local health services. Riders of all backgrounds, united by a commitment to community, pedal through towns and rural landscapes, embodying Graham 'Woody' Woodrup's vision to highlight not just the physical and social benefits of cycling, but also the lasting impact of supporting vital healthcare in regional areas.
Participants and their supporters experience a weekend filled with teamwork, camaraderie, and purpose, with many returning year after year. The event is a significant fundraiser, generating upwards of $400,000 annually for hospitals and charities throughout Victoria and South Australia. The spirit of the relay is felt in every town along the route, with communities coming out to cheer on the teams and celebrate their achievements.
The Murray to Moyne continues to inspire, reminding everyone involved of the power of collective effort in strengthening health services and building connected, resilient communities.
