Voting Now Open - Dunkeld Named Top Tourism Town Finalist Again
Published on 29 May 2026
Southern Grampians Shire Council is pleased to announce Dunkeld has been named a finalist in the Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards, placing the town among the state’s standout visitor destinations.
Dunkeld is a finalist in the Top Tourism Town Tiny category, recognising towns with a population under 1,500 that deliver exceptional visitor experiences, strong community pride and a genuine commitment to tourism.
The announcement is a proud moment for Dunkeld and the wider Southern Grampians region, with the town now entering the public voting stage of the awards.
Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Dennis Heslin said being named a finalist once again recognises the people, businesses and volunteers who help make Dunkeld a memorable place to visit.
“This recognition belongs to the whole Dunkeld community,” Cr Heslin said.
“Dunkeld may be tiny in size, but it leaves a big impression. From the dramatic peaks of Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park to the warmth of its local businesses, accommodation providers, makers, volunteers and hospitality operators, Dunkeld delivers an experience that visitors remember long after they leave.
“To be named a finalist again is something we are incredibly proud of. It reflects the care, creativity and collaboration that sits behind every visitor experience in this town.”
Cr Heslin said the public vote was now a chance for locals, visitors and long-time Dunkeld fans to help bring the title home.
“Public voting is a simple but powerful way to show pride in our region,” he said. “Every vote celebrates the local people who work so hard to create a welcoming, high-quality regional destination to both international and domestic visitors.
“We are calling on the Southern Grampians community, past visitors, holidaymakers, local businesses and anyone who loves Dunkeld to get behind the town and cast their vote.”
Locals are encouraged to share the voting link with family, friends, customers, visitors and community networks to help build support during the public voting period, with exciting prizes on offer, for voting.
Votes can be cast via the VTIC website (https://www.vtic.com.au/toptourismtown), with further information also available at www.visitsoutherngrampians.com.au.
