With footing works now complete, installation of new solar light poles along Cox Street will begin from Monday 23 March 2026, with works expected to be completed within the week.
A total of 26 light poles are scheduled to be installed between Ballarat Road/French Street and Lonsdale Street. Once tested thoroughly, the lights will be activated, with existing temporary lighting to be removed.
During this time traffic management will be in place, with minor delays expected along Cox Street and parts of Lonsdale Street. Brief detours and reduced speed limits will also be implemented and there will be short, sectional closures along the southbound lane while the works are completed. Trucks will be detoured away from the CBD during this time.
All changes will be clearly signposted, and motorists are encouraged to take care when travelling through the area.
These works are an important step in improving safety and amenity for the community. Council appreciates the community’s patience and understanding while they are completed.
