RING IN 2026 WITH FIREWORKS AT LAKE HAMILTON!
Southern Grampians Shire Council is gearing up to light up the sky once again this New Year’s Eve, with the fireworks display returning to Lake Hamilton.
Following the success of last year’s event, the fireworks will again be launched from a floating pontoon in the middle of the Lake, creating a spectacular show that can be enjoyed from all sides of the foreshore.
The display will start at 10:00pm on Wednesday 31 December 2025.
Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Dennis Heslin said the lakeside setting provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxed and festive community celebration.
“Lake Hamilton is one of our most beautiful family-friendly spaces, so we’re encouraging everyone to come early, make use of the amenities and soak up the atmosphere before the show,” Cr Heslin said.
“After the success of last year’s event, we knew we wanted to bring the community together again for another safe, fun and family-friendly celebration.”
The fireworks will last roughly 8-10 minutes and will be launched from the water across from the boat ramp. Weather conditions - particularly wind - will be closely monitored. Should conditions become unsuitable, the display will move to a backup location on the north-west bank of the lake.
For safety reasons, Lake Hamilton will be closed to all water activity on Wednesday 31 December, including swimming, boating and fishing.
Residents around Lake Hamilton and the town are advised to ensure pets and animals are secure during the fireworks display.
Cr Heslin encourages locals and visitors to make the most of the occasion.
“Grab a picnic blanket, call your family and friends, and head to the water for a night of fun and community spirit. Let’s welcome the new year together and make it one to remember.”
