Southern Grampians Shire Council is delighted to announce that Dunkeld has been announced as a finalist in the 2025 Top Tourism Town Awards. The beloved town now enters the final stage of the awards, a public voting round to decide the states favourite regional destination.
Shire residents and regular holidaymakers now have from 9am Friday 6 June to 5pm Friday 27 June to cast a vote– and hopefully help Dunkeld secure the win in the Top Tiny Tourism Town category.
The Top Tourism Town Awards, hosted by Victorian Tourism Industry Council (VTIC), showcases the value of tourism to the towns and communities across Victoria and celebrate the diversity and outstanding regional destinations of our state.
“This nomination is a celebration of our people as much as our place,” said Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Dennis Heslin.
“Dunkeld may be small in size, but it punches well above its weight when it comes to visitor experience, community pride, and natural beauty.”
From the striking peaks of Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park to acclaimed Royal Mail Hotel, scenic walking tracks and trails, makers, artisans and heartfelt country charm, Dunkeld offers a truly unique travel experience.
“This nomination recognises what locals already know, that Dunkeld is a town where nature, community, and creativity come together. Whether it’s a weekend escape or a midweek wander, Dunkeld offers visitors something unforgettable.
“What truly sets Dunkeld apart is the unwavering commitment of its volunteers, community and local businesses, who work collaboratively to create an exceptional destination for travellers.
“From providing Visitor Services, to maintaining landscapes and open spaces, curating community events and supporting tourism initiatives, a passionate community is at the heart of every visit,” Mayor Heslin concluded.
Locals are encouraged to share the voting link with family, friends, and those who have visited and loved Dunkeld. A united community effort could see Dunkeld crowned Victoria’s Top Tiny Tourism Town for 2025.
Votes can be cast via the VTIC Website or visit www.visitsoutherngrampians.com.au for additional information. Casting your vote will enter you into a draw to win a perfect Melbourne getaway, including two nights at a luxury hotel and dining at some of the city's finest restaurants.
Voting closes 5pm Friday 27 June.
