Southern Grampians Shire Council has endorsed a refresh of Hamilton’s town entrance signage, with revised designs set to better reflect the community’s identity and sense of place.

At its 14 April meeting, Council approved revised designs for new signage to replace the existing entrance signs which have welcomed residents and visitors for many years.

Community engagement in late 2025 and early 2026 saw a total of 81 submissions received, helping to shape the final design. Feedback led to changes to the font style and size, which have now been aligned with Council’s signage style for a more consistent look.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Cr Dennis Heslin supported the final design, praising the balance between community input, practicality and visual appeal.

“We’ve had great engagement from the community right throughout this process, and that feedback has directly shaped the final result,” Cr Heslin said.

“There were some fantastic ideas put forward, and while we couldn’t include everything, we’ve made changes where we could, in order to reflect what we heard.

“The end result is a design that is clear and timeless and something the community can be proud of for years to come.”

Five new signs will be installed on key entry routes into Hamilton. Each will feature a concrete base with sandstone cladding, Corten steel panels with cut lettering, and subtle solar lighting to ensure visibility at night. The total budget for this project is $181,648.
