Southern Grampians Shire Council is excited to announce the return of Maternal Child Health (MCH) services to Balmoral, offering vital support for families in the region.

Starting last Friday, 2 May 2025, MCH Nurse Georgie Sweeney will be available fortnightly via appointment only at the Balmoral Bush Nursing Centre from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Dennis Heslin said Maternal Child Health services play a pivotal part in improving our community’s well-being.

“Staffed by registered nurses with expertise in midwifery, family, and child health, the MCH Team is dedicated to promoting the health, development, and learning of young children while supporting their families,” said Cr Heslin.

“These services also play a crucial role in identifying and addressing health and wellbeing concerns early.”

Council recognises the importance of bringing this essential service closer to families in Balmoral. By operating out of the Balmoral Bush Nursing Centre, the MCH program ensures convenient, local access to professional care and guidance, strengthening our commitment to nurturing a healthy and vibrant community.

“We’re delighted to see this much-needed service reinstated in Balmoral, the health and development of our youngest residents are a top priority, and we’re proud of the work our MCH team do to make this possible,” Cr Heslin concluded.

This initiative responds directly to requests from both local families and passionate Maternal Child Health nurses. It’s a testament to the community’s collective effort to ensure Balmoral’s children and families thrive.
