As National Volunteer Week approaches, Southern Grampians Shire Council would like to express its immense appreciation for the committed and skilled volunteers who make our community a better place.
This annual celebration allows the chance to honour and recognise the many individuals who selflessly contribute their time, skills, and passion to help our region thrive and succeed.
Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Dennis Heslin said volunteers play a cruical role in Council initiatives including supporting Community Partnership Grants.
“There are many volunteers who play a crucial role in the success of Council initiatives, including those who take the time to apply for our Community Partnership Grants,” said Cr Heslin.
“Their unwavering commitment is vital to the success of our program of which without such dedication, the wide array of activities and community initiatives that support our region would simply not be possible.
“These community volunteers put time and effort into applications to give their group or idea the best chance of success to achieve outstanding results for residents.
“This year, we will take the opportunity to highlight some of our volunteers across our social media platforms to say thank you for their important community contributions.
“We are also incredibly fortunate to have the active support of approximately 100 amazing volunteers at Council. Their generosity, dedication, and passion are at the heart of what we do every day, and they play a huge role in helping us make a real difference in our community,” concluded Cr Heslin.
Volunteer Week is a nationally celebrated initiative, taking place this year from 19 – 25 May 2025.
On Monday, 16 June, volunteer groups will be invited to attend the Southern Grampians New Residents Function in the Greater Hamilton Library at 6:00pm, providing an opportunity for new and existing community members to discover the impactful world of volunteering. Stay tuned for more information.
