Southern Grampians Shire Council is excited to announce the release of its 2025 Youth Survey, inviting young people aged 12 to 25 to have their say on the events, activities, and spaces that matter most to them.
Council’s Youth team is committed to creating opportunities that help young people thrive—now and into the future. This survey will guide how Council plans and delivers initiatives that support young people in our community, ensuring activities are youth designed and led.
Southern Grampians Shire Mayor Dennis Heslin encouraged young people to take part, emphasising the importance of youth voices in shaping Council’s priorities.
"Young people are the future of our community, and their insights ensure we provide the right programs and spaces to support them," Cr Heslin said. "This survey is a fantastic opportunity for youth to share their ideas and help us create a more fun, vibrant and inclusive Southern Grampians."
In exciting news, Council has once again secured funding through the Victorian Government’s Amplify program (formerly FReeZA) to continue delivering youth-focused events and programs for the next three years.
Cr Heslin highlighted the significance of this funding, saying it’s allowed the delivery of some fantastic events.
"Securing this funding means we can continue delivering meaningful events and activities that support young people. Things like the JAM music event, the outdoor pool parties, free movies and free court entry at HILAC were all possible thanks to this funding. We look forward to seeing what we can achieve for our young people over the next three years,” Cr Heslin concluded.
Young participants who complete the survey will go in the draw to win great prizes, including a 12-month gold membership at HILAC, a Nintendo Switch, and wireless headphones.
Council encourages all young people to get involved and share their voice. The survey is now open—have your say and help shape a vibrant future for youth in the Southern Grampians!
