Hamilton performing Arts Centre Shines Brighter Than Ever With Cutting
Published on 20 May 2025
The Hamilton Performing Arts Centre (HPAC) has taken a major step forward with significant upgrades to its lighting system with the installation of cutting-edge LED fixtures.
This transformation replaces the existing conventional fixtures with high-efficiency, versatile LED equivalents, positioning HPAC at the forefront of sustainable and dynamic lighting solutions. As part of the upgrade, HPAC has acquired 12 ETC Colorsource V Profiles, renowned for their multi-colour LED light capabilities, enabling precise colour mixing and accurate colour rendering.
Additionally, 18 Colorsource V Fresnels have been installed, offering multi-colour LED functionality along with motorised zoom for exceptional flexibility and performance that will elevate every show.
Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Dennis Heslin said these lighting improvements will create a better entertainment experience for HPAC patrons.
“This state-of-the-art lighting system not only maintains HPAC's commitment to delivering outstanding theatrical experiences but also enhances the creative possibilities for future productions,” said Cr Heslin.
“It’s important that residents and visitors have access to entertainment and shows right here in the Southern Grampians to which these new light fixtures will ensure high quality viewing for years to come.”
The new LED fixtures eliminate the need for hanging additional lights to achieve various colour effects, enabling seamless transitions between vivid colour washes and dynamic lighting scenes.
This isn’t just about dazzling performances; it’s about sustainability, too. The new LED rig consumes a fraction of the power compared to its predecessor, using roughly the same energy as just a handful of the old lights. This upgrade aligns with HPAC's commitment to environmental responsibility while simultaneously lowering operational costs.
“Upgrading our lighting system is an important step towards future proofing our equipment and enhancing the quality of our productions,” said Amanda Hurley, Service Manager at HPAC.
“We are proud to provide our audiences with vibrant, engaging performances while also taking measurable steps towards sustainability,” Ms Hurley concluded.
Cr Heslin said this investment underscores HPAC’s vision to serve as a premier hub for the arts, entertainment, and community connection.
“By adopting advanced LED technology, HPAC continues to position itself as a forward-thinking venue, committed to both artistic excellence and environmental stewardship,” concluded Cr Heslin.
The stage is set, the lights are on, and the future of live entertainment has never looked so Amazing.
