Young imaginations are being put to the test as Southern Grampians Shire Council launches an exciting new design competition, inviting local creatives aged 8–15 to help shape the future of Hamilton’s Library, Community Hub and Civic Square.

Blending creativity with technology, participants are challenged to bring their ideas to life in Minecraft, designing an energetic, future-focused area that reflects how people want to learn, connect and gather.

Participants are asked to include:

  • A modern library featuring a dedicated children’s area, study spaces and digital facilities
  • Office space on an upper level
  • An outdoor community garden or gathering space

Beyond that, it’s up to you to go bold, go creative and go wild!

Southern Grampians Shire Council Deputy Mayor Cr Helen Henry is excited to see what the next generation of Hamilton designers can dream up.

“I’ve seen firsthand the artistic and inventive talent of the young people in our region.

“Young people see the world differently and we want to tap into that. We’re delighted to be able to offer some great prizes to help stoke the imaginations of our youth and hopefully lead them to greater things.”

“If you think you have a vision for the future of Hamilton, we want to see it. Simply upload a video tour of your proposed building and you’ll be in with a chance to win a fabulous prize,” Cr Henry concluded.

There are fantastic prizes up for grabs:

  • 1st prize: $300 teen gift card
  • 2nd prize: $150 teen gift card
  • 3rd prize: $50 teen gift card

Whether you’re a seasoned builder or just starting out, this is your chance to get creative, build something amazing, and have your ideas seen.
