Community Consultation Underway for Hamilton Indoor Leisure and Aquati
Published on 16 July 2025
Southern Grampians Shire Council is inviting community input to help shape the future of the Hamilton Indoor Leisure and Aquatic Centre (HILAC).
This consultation process aims to review the current usage, activation of spaces at the centre to ensure everyone in our community can get involved in sport and recreation that supports their health and wellbeing.
Community feedback gained through this consultation will assist Council in making informed decisions that reflect real community needs for HILAC into the future, ensuring it remains a valuable community asset.
Manager Community Wellbeing, Susannah Milne said the consultation is a valuable opportunity for our users and community groups to help shape the future of HILAC.
“Our key focus for this consultation will include gathering community feedback on potential new programs, partnerships or activities, reviewing the accessibility and affordability of existing programs and services along with considering the allocation and scheduling of sports courts and aquatic spaces to better meet the needs of our community”, Ms Milne said.
“Through our recent Council Plan engagement, we’ve heard that being active and connected is a key priority for our community. We know HILAC plays an important role in addressing that need, and we want to understand how we can support improved community participation and engagement in sport and recreation across all age groups and interests”.
As part of the consultation period Council will engage directly with current user groups while also seeking input from interested recreation and community groups that wish to partner or engage with HILAC in the future.
If your community group, association or club would like to engage please reach out to arrange a meeting with us.
Community members are encouraged by Council to have their say through the Community Survey available or at the HILAC Café, where a listening post will be set up.
