Celebrate Life at the 2026 Victorian Seniors Festival

Southern Grampians Shire will celebrate the region’s vibrant senior community this October, with a month-long program celebrating connection, creativity and community.

Council invites residents aged 60 and over to get involved in the 2026 Victorian Seniors Festival, with a diverse calendar of events encouraging seniors to try something new, to meet new people and celebrate everything that makes life in our community special.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Dennis Heslin said Council is proud to be a part of the statewide initiative which is supported by the Victorian Government.

“There's something pretty special about bringing people together, sharing a laugh and trying something new, and that's exactly what this year's festival is all about,” said Cr Heslin.

“Council has worked alongside our community to put together a terrific program that takes seniors across the Shire, offering plenty of opportunities to connect, get creative and enjoy themselves.”

The festival program’s returning theme Connect, Create and Celebrate offers something for a wide range of interests. Dance enthusiasts can enjoy the classics at the old-time dance club, nature lovers can explore hidden gems on a guided botanic garden tour, retro movies will be playing at the Hamilton Cinema and those with a competitive streak can go head-to-head at games and trivia nights.

For those looking for something a little bigger, Sea Wolves Howl at the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre is among the program highlights, promising an extraordinary live experience for festivalgoers.

Cr Heslin said the festival was an opportunity to celebrate the people who help make Southern Grampians such a vibrant place to live.

“Our seniors have shaped this community in countless ways, and this festival is a chance to recognise that contribution while celebrating the friendships, experiences and interests that make life richer at every age,” concluded Cr Heslin. “I encourage everyone to take a look at the program, bring along a friend and make the most of what's on offer.”

Most events are free or low-cost, with bookings required for some activities. The full October program is available on Council's website.
