Following a budget submission by the St Andrews Cricket Club, Council allocated funding in the 2024/25 budget for the much-needed upgrades to the cricket nets and a contract was awarded to SJ & CE Van Kalken valued at $162,230.
As part of this renewal, the existing two nets will be replaced by modern 14.4m x 34m cricket nets incorporating four fully enclosed lanes, with synthetic surface which will comply with Cricket Australia Infrastructure guidelines. on.
The cricket nets are a key part of the Pedrina Park Master Plan to supporting local participation and compliments improvements made to playing surfaces including irrigation and oval rejuvenation so it will be great to see this project delivered to our community.
Council is contributing $102,230 towards the new nets with an additional $40,000 grant from Cricket Australia to add to the project. St Andrews Cricket Club who are the cricket tenants at Pedrina Park, were able to contribute a further $20,000.
