Cavendish Red Gum Festival

Next date: Friday, 17 April 2026 | 06:00 PM to 11:00 PM

The Cavendish Red Gum Festival is a heartfelt celebration of the ancient red gum landscape and the deep connections between community, environment and local heritage. Set in the charming township of Cavendish, the festival brings together locals and visitors for a weekend packed with inspiration, learning and genuine country hospitality.

Throughout the event, the village comes alive with a vibrant program of activities for all ages. Guided walks beneath towering red gums invite you to slow down and learn from passionate local ecologists, artists and landcarers. Artisans display works crafted from salvaged timber and nature-based materials; stalls brim with handcrafted goods, local produce and regional flavours.

Workshops and demonstrations offer a chance to get hands-on - whether it's botanical drawing, woodcraft, weaving or native plant propagation. Hear from farmers and conservationists who share practical stories of living and working alongside these magnificent trees, highlighting both challenges and the resilience of the landscape.

Live music drifts as families spread out beneath the shades, sharing picnics and catching up over homemade cakes and barbecue lunches. Children are invited to get creative with art activities, scavenger hunt and storytelling sessions inspired by the history and habitat of the red gum country.

The festival is as much about connection as celebration. From the opening gala night to the end of the festival, it's a chance for everyone - whether lifelong locals or newcomers - to swap stories, forge friendships and reflect on the significance of these ancient trees to the region's identity.
