Kerbside Waste Collection Services

Current (to 1 July 2017)

Council provides Hamilton and Tarrington households with a garbage and recycling collection on a weekly basis and an optional fortnightly organic waste service.

Outer Township Collection Services

Council provides weekly garbage and fortnightly recycling collection to households within the townships of Balmoral, Byaduk/Byaduk North, Cavendish, Coleraine, Penshurst, Dunkeld and Glenthompson.

Please put your bin out the night before, as collection times may vary.

Every second collection day, put both bins out together.

Collection services are usually restricted to the township boundaries. However, if you live outside of but still near these areas, contact us for consideration of this service.

Mandatory and Elective Service Charges

Mandatory service charges are levied on all residential properties within Hamilton and all outer townships (except Branxholme) to provide kerbside waste and recycle collection service.

Commercial and industrial properties, in addition to “not for profit” organisations (including schools, churches, hospitals etc.), are exempt from this charge unless the service is elected.

The organics kerbside collection, available to Hamilton and Tarrington residents, is optional. For more information click here.

Bin Notices

Our waste contractor may place a sticker on your garbage, organics or recycling bin if any issues arise during collection. Reasons for notification may include bin contamination, access issues or excessive bin weight.

Please keep in mind that if the issue you’ve been notified of is ongoing, we may decide to suspend or end your collection service.

Reporting a Missed Bin

If you have any questions or would like to report a damaged or missed bin, please contact the our Customer Service.

Replacing Bins

Bins are the homeowner's property. Payment for bins can be made at Council's Customer Service at 111 Brown Street, Hamilton.
