Cr Rainsford is married to Brian Ball and they have four children and farm at Bulart near Cavendish. Brian is an auto electrician and Katrina a veterinarian and they have a background in small business and farming since 1984 including managing a company VETWORK which employed twelve staff in three clinics in two states.
She has an honours degree in Veterinary Science, qualifications in Auditing, Quality Assurance, Food Safety and membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists.
Katrina is passionate about being a voice for rural communities and is prepared to stand up and speak out on issues affecting the quality of life and opportunities for future country Australians.
She has a goals of getting passenger rail back to Hamilton, population growth and City status for Hamilton, and working with community members to establish a community enterprise providing music, art and recreation opportunities which included the inaugural Hamilton Battle of the Buskers.
Cr Rainsford served a term as a West Wimmera Shire Councillor before joining Council in May 2004 as a result of a by-election. She was re-elected in November 2004, December 2008 and on 27 October 2012.
Cr Rainsford represents Council on the Public Art Installation Reference Group and Penshurst Windfarm Proposal Community Engagement Committee. She is also a member of the GWM Water Regional Recreation Water Users Group; the Community Reference Group Committee for the Cox Street Front Door Landscape Upgrade Project; and the Community and Industry Transport Advisory Group.
