Soul sensation Emma Donovan to merge music and country

February 26, 2024

ARIA-award-winning First Nations singer Emma Donovan will perform at the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre (HPAC) on April 11 in a celebration of music and country.

A Gumbainggir woman, Ms Donovan comes from a small collection of world-class entertainers who use their talents to shine a light on the extraordinary rhythm of First Nations languages.

Southern Grampians Shire Council First Nations Officer Staycee Charles said it would be a significant occasion to have Ms Donovan, who has performed around the world for more than two decades, on the HPAC stage.

“Council is committed to providing the community with a variety of events and activities that bring everyone closer to understanding our First Nations culture,” said Miss Charles. “This includes unique performances like Emma’s, that will appeal to a very wide audience.”

Ms Donovan's repertoire covers funk, soul, and country music, expertly blended by this seasoned artist.

“I can tell you from firsthand experience, Emma is an amazing performer,” said Miss Charles.

“As soon as she sings, you get goosebumps. I can’t wait to see her again and for others to experience her wonderful talent.”

As part of councils Reconciliation Week celebrations, there are significant discounts available for First Nations residents from the Southern Grampians Shire. Please contact Miss Charles on 0407 901 359 for further details.
