Southern Grampians Shire Council will introduce a new parking initiative as we make our way out of lockdown this weekend.
From tomorrow Friday 10 September until Thursday 30 September, motorists will be able to enjoy free parking in the Hamilton CBD.
Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Bruach Colliton said Council was committed to supporting the community, local businesses and increasing expenditure and visitation to our CBD.
“This past year has been incredibly tough for CBD businesses and we are taking every avenue to deliver a much-needed boost by drawing more people into the city, and encouraging them to stay longer.
“For the next few weeks, we are thrilled to be offering free parking across the CBD. We’re calling for all locals to support our local retailers and hospitality providers and really enjoy what Hamilton has to offer.
“This initiative comes in addition to our recently completed outdoor dining space at the front of the Hamilton Library. With hospitality patron restrictions in place, this precinct provides the perfect opportunity to grab a coffee and a bite to eat from a local café and still relax in the CBD with the family,” Cr Colliton said.
Time limits in parking bays will still apply to ensure spaces are available for all residents and visitors.
