Southern Grampians Shire Council is seeking feedback from the community on the Community Vision Framework Outcomes report, following an extensive period of community engagement.
The Community Vision Framework 2041 (CVF2041) represents a 20 year vision for the Shire, identifying priorities and opportunities to be further investigated and delivered. It seeks to create excitement and optimism within Council and the community about the future of the Southern Grampians Shire and chart a united, preferred future for the Shire.
Council’s Director Planning and Development Andrew Goodsell said Council had been through a thorough engagement process and thanked the community for their participation, given the challenges presented in 2020.
“The project began in 2019 and we were able to have some productive face-to-face workshops and conversations with stakeholders toward the end of that year. COVID-19 challenged the traditional methods of engagement for us in 2020, however we were very pleased with the level of engagement we were still able to achieve, with 17 workshops delivered and 75 one-on-one interviews conducted,” Mr Goodsell said.
“This feedback has been collated and analysed and we are now seeking further input from our community and stakeholders on the outcomes of the engagement.
“We thank the community for their involvement in CVF2041 to date and we trust they are able to see their ideas and vision reflected in this report,” Mr Goodsell said.
CVF 2041 will inform and support Council’s other plans and strategies including the upcoming Council Plan for 2021-2025 (which forms the first four years of the 20 year plan). Both documents will be exhibited concurrently and adopted concurrently.
Key issues and priorities identified in the outcomes report include key worker housing, sustainable waste management practices, mitigating and adapting to climate change, digital infrastructure, sustainable water management, support for youth and the broadacre agriculture sector.
