Celebrating Differences Together on Harmony Day

16 March 2023

Southern Grampians Shire Council is celebrating Harmony Day a little differently this year with the Multicultural Comedy Gala on Wednesday 22 March 2023 and local multi-cultural performers providing free, pre-show entertainment in the PAC forecourt.

Celebrated during Harmony Week (20 – 26 March 2023), provides communities the opportunity to celebrate their differences, share their heritage, and focus on the things that bring us all together.

This year will see a star-studded line-up of the country’s best and emerging comedic talent touch on cultural identity in a concoction of comedy that pokes fun at what makes us all different, but so much the same.

Local multi-cultural performers will provide free, pre-show entertainment in the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre (HPAC) forecourt from 6:00pm, with the comedy gala kicking off at 8pm. Multi-cultural food options will be available with drinks available to purchase from the HPAC bar.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor David Robertson encourages residents to purchase their ticket and enjoy the evening of celebration.

“It’s fantastic to see a show like the Multicultural Comedy Gala right here in the Southern Grampians providing world renowned artists and performance opportunities on our very own doorstep,” said Cr Robertson.

“Harmony Week provides us all with time to reflect upon our own journey and that of our families in forming what makes Australia such a diverse nation.

“To be able to celebrate our differences in history, culture and story but find commonalities that bind us as one community is really inspiring and something we should all be really proud of,” said Cr Robertson.

The Hamilton Performing Arts Centre also has five double passes to give away thanks to Multicultural Comedy Gala. To go into the running, check out the HPAC Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/hamiltonperformingarts (winners drawn Friday 17 March 2023).

Tickets are on sale now – adults $59.90, concession and senior $54.90 with the Gala suitable for those aged 15 years and over. Tickets can be purchased from the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre ticket box or via their website at https://tickets.hamiltonpac.com.au/event/1004:624/1004:800/
