Southern Grampians Shire Council grading crews are currently working around the region to complete vital gravel road grading and maintenance works.
Between July and August grading crews will be located at the following locations with crews to continue the gravel road network around the region through until late October:
• Balmoral - township and surrounding areas
• Branxholme - township and surrounding areas
• Cavendish - township moving north between Cavendish and Glenisla
• Dunkeld / Penshurst and surrounding areas
Southern Grampians Shire Council Acting Mayor David Robertson said Council acknowledges some of the regions gravel roads are in urgent need of attention as a result of the season’s heavy rainfall.
“We appreciate that this time of year presents condition issues for motorists travelling unsealed roads and we are working to address these areas,” said Cr Robertson.
“Council spends approximately $650,000 annually on the gravel road maintenance program. We have almost $30 million allocated in the 2022-23 Council Budget to be invested in capital works, major projects and roads across the entire shire. We remain committed to improving road quality and critical infrastructure across the Southern Grampians.
“If you notice our Grading crews on the road, please take care around the impacted areas, avoid pot holes, and follow any changes to traffic conditions as we complete these important maintenance works,” concluded Cr Robertson.
