Greater Grants open to support Southern Grampians community

29 June 2021

Community groups and not-for-profit organisations are encouraged to apply for funding as Southern Grampians Shire Council’s Greater Grants Program opens on 1 July 2021. Council welcomes groups and individuals to apply through the grants program to help bring project or event ideas into action.

Grant applications officially open at 9:00am on 1 July 2021 and close at 4:00pm 30 July 2021.

Council’s Greater Grants program allows eligible community groups to access up to $15,000 per financial year for initiatives, events and projects that directly benefit the Southern Grampians Shire. Applications for more than $2,500 must demonstrate cash or in-kind contributions and must provide evidence of cash held, or must be able to demonstrate their financial capacity.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Bruach Colliton said Council is proud to be able to provide support to a wide range of groups right across the Shire through the Greater Grants program.

“In the last round of Greater Grants, we were able to fund things like CPR training for volunteers of the Hamilton Running Club; a ride-on mower for the Hamilton Scout Group; security upgrades for the Victoria Lagoon Rec Reserve Committee, a WW2 cemetery plaque for the Dunkeld Museum and the Penshurst Photographic and Community event.

“We encourage all community groups and organisations to have a think about future initiatives, events or programs that may help your town or group reconnect following these unprecedented times. We want people to consider online projects, virtual events, digital tools and training, as well as in-person community events, art projects and larger community festivals and markets as restrictions allow. If you have an idea or project that you think will help your community recover or you’ve identified an emerging need, you should definitely get in touch with our Greater Grants team. Even if you’re a bit unsure about whether your event will be able to proceed, call and have a chat to the team and we will work through it with you,” Cr Colliton said.

Information on the funding categories available, eligibility criteria and information on how to apply, including the full guidelines and application form are available on Council’s grants page www.sthgrampians.vic.gov.au/grants or by contacting Customer Service on 5573 0444.
