Greater Hamilton Library is open again and staff are thrilled to welcome everyone back to the library.
While the library was closed to the public, staff were kept extremely busy, offering a range of contactless options to ensure customers were still able to access services.
Throughout this time, our staff provided:
• in excess of 530 bags of books, which were collected by members from our Pick Up Station at the front of the library;
• 164 bags of books, which were delivered to homes in Hamilton;
• 143 bags of books, which were delivered to homes in other towns within the Shire; and
• a total of 11,353 loan items within the Southern Grampians shire from 1 July – 30 September 2020.
In addition to offering the contactless pick-up and delivery services, there were also many online offerings for customers to enjoy throughout the closure, including virtual storytimes, craft sessions and a wide range of e-resources available through our website.
Senior Library Services Officer Chris Jenkins said the library has received many great messages of support from happy customers over the last few months.
“Our customers have been very grateful for the delivery of books and the continuation of our borrowing services throughout the lockdown.
“We’ve had so many cards and emails with messages like ‘You’ve saved my sanity’, ‘Thanks girls, you’re keeping me going OK through this challenging time’ and ‘You are legends in the care of the mental health of the community’. This feedback means so much to us and makes all the hard work worthwhile”, Jenkins said.
The Greater Hamilton Library is open to the public Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 4:00pm, with current a limit of 20 customers at a time. Limited PC’s are available for essential services only.
The mobile library resumes from Thursday 29 October. The timetable can be accessed online www.sthgrampians.vic.gov.au/library or collected from the Greater Hamilton Library.
The home delivery service will continue fortnightly for members who are unable to attend the library. Members can login to the library website to place items on hold or staff will happily select items of interest. Library members who wish to use this service are encouraged to contact the library for details.
