26 February 2018

Southern Grampians Shire Council has released the Greater Hamilton Autumn/Winter Events Guide, packed with exciting events taking place across the region between March and August 2018.

The 15-page guide, prepared by Council’s Economic Development and Tourism unit, contains details of 80 plus events, including all the regular crowd favourites, together with a number of new events taking place across the Greater Hamilton region.

New events featured in the guide include A Midsummer Night’s Dream Under The Stars, Grazing In The Garden and the Cavendish Red Gum Festival. There are also details on iconic events like Sheepvention, the City of Hamilton Eisteddfod, Serra Terror and the Peaks and Trails run.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Cr Mary Ann Brown said the Greater Hamilton Events Guide is a terrific resource for both visitors and locals.

“We are blessed to have such a vibrant region and a wide range of things to see and do. This guide is essential reading, not only for visitors here exploring all we have to offer, but for locals wanting to embrace our rich culture and community spirit, and head along to some great events with visiting family and friends,” Mayor Cr Brown said.

This Autumn and Winter, residents and visitors can get active at one of three fundraising runs around Lake Hamilton, or explore events in outlying towns including the Balmoral Pastoral and Agricultural Society Show, Penshurst Art Exhibition, Coleraine Art and Photography Show, Branxholme Rodeo and Dunkeld’s Sturgeon Stampede.

Families can watch a classic movie at the Friday night Drive In, head to the Hamilton Showgrounds for AlpacaFest and the Jack Russell Terrier and Hunting Dog Show or enjoy the beautiful sounds of Orchestra Victoria as they once again grace Hamilton with their talents throughout the annual Hamilton Festival.
