Have Your Say - Penshurst Botanic Gardens Master Plan

10 May 2017

Penshurst residents are being urged to take the opportunity to have their say as Council begins development of the Master Plan for the Penshurst Botanic Gardens.

Council commissioned the development of a new Master Plan for the Penshurst Botanic Gardens in 2015. The brief for the Master Plan has been developed in consultation with Advance Penshurst with the aim of maximising the potential of this wonderful community asset in Penshurst.

The Penshurst Community Plans have all recognised the Botanic Gardens as a key community asset with recreational, environmental and tourism assets that define a point of difference and attraction for Penshurst with significant potential to better utilise these assets.

Council and Advance Penshurst are keen to hear from the community of Penshurst, on how they think the Penshurst Botanic Gardens can best support their vision for the town and its community. In particular, we are looking for ideas around Infrastructure (lighting, gates, public art), Community spaces (playground, BBQ areas), Tourism (caravan park, events) and Botanical features (Tree management, interpretative signage).

The first engagement sessions are being held this Thursday 11 May at the Volcanoes Discovery Centre. There will be two session 2:30pm-4:30pm and 5:30pm-7:30pm.

Residents will have the opportunity to explain what their vision is and how they see the Gardens from a community and tourism perspective.

For more information, please contact Council’s infrastructure department on 5573 0203.
