Cr David Robertson (Mayor)

Elected Terms: 2020

Cr David Robertson started life in Mt Gambier, the son of the local surgeon who also had a very keen interest in the land, and so was introduced to farming at a young age.

Cr Robertson completed his secondary education in Melbourne and after a few years jackarooing, he completed a diploma of farm management at Marcus Oldham Agricultural College in Geelong. He purchased the property 'Austral Park' at Coleraine, where he and his wife Fiona raised their three sons and still reside today.

Cr Robertson has been involved in the agricultural industry for over 40 years. Firstly, with the VFF as a pastoral councillor representing the South West district, and then on the Wool Council of Australia for five years through the heady days of the reserve price scheme. He served on the Board of RIST and was involved with developing a program for delivery to the grazing industry. He was chairman of Evergraze, a research project developing pasture systems that complimented the animal system and he ran the Life time Wool project at Austral Park, which resulted in the development of the Life time Ewe Management Program.

He has also had significant involvement in local sport, from the local tennis club, to coaching hockey at junior level and football at senior level, to being the President of the Hamilton Golf Club.

David was elected Mayor for the 2022/23 year.
