The Mayor posted in a video yesterday that while we have different arrangements to contact and deal with Southern Grampians Shire Council, we are all in this together. We encourage community, to keep in touch with us and others through social media, telephone and email, maintaining social distancing and social isolation for some.
Since the announcements from the Federal and State Government overnight bringing more restrictions on business and continuing the current restrictions, Council are working directly with local business to support them in many and varied ways.
There is direct telephone support from our Economic Development team on 0429 578 216, along with a dedicated Facebook presence via our new business specific page Greater Hamilton Business and Tourism Group – COVID-19. Council is packaging up all of the known Federal and State Government support to small and medium business and working on clear, concise information and pathways for people to access this support.
Please keep an eye on our social media, web and the broader media to keep up-to-date on any changes to our services or others in the community.
According to our Federal and State Leaders, we are planning for a six month period in this type of environment and this will impact on our staff, volunteers and community significantly. The messaging from all levels of Government is that we need to take drastic action now to not only save lives, but to reduce the impact on our health and wellbeing and services associated with our health and wellbeing.
If the community and businesses do not take heed of the restrictions, both voluntary and enforced, then further actions will need to be taken. These will no doubt see the tightening of all service and businesses operations and this will impact significantly on us all. I implore you to take these restrictions seriously for the benefit of our entire community.
