Excitement builds for 2018 Telstra Business Awards

15 October 2018

Established in 1996, the Southern Grampians Shire Business Awards recognise organisations that have achieved business excellence in the Southern Grampians region. The Awards provide a significant recognition and celebration of business achievement, service and performance.

Council welcome and acknowledge returning sponsors, particularly Telstra who are once again the naming rights sponsor for the event.

The Awards will be presented at the Gala Dinner, held at the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre on Friday 26 October 2018. The local business sector contributes significantly to the economic and social wellbeing of our community and this evening is always a special night to celebrate what it means to be considered among ‘the best of the best’ in the Southern Grampians region.

As in previous years, the awards process is about more than receiving accolades. It is heavily focused on being a development opportunity for all entrants, with a structured process of self-assessment and each business being visited by judge, Kevin Bennett. Kevin is experienced in working with enterprises to develop their business and not only provides entrants with thorough written feedback, but also runs a post-awards workshop for all entrants which addresses business development opportunities identified during the awards process.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Mary-Ann Brown said the awards are a fantastic way for businesses to demonstrate their contribution to the local economy.

"This will be the 22nd year the awards have been held and it is now established as the premier event on the business calendar. Entering into the awards gives you an opportunity to reflect on your business and celebrate your business achievements," Cr Mary-Ann Brown said.

“Our business community is continuing to thrive and grow with significant new development underway and the strengthening of partnerships between Council, community and business. The future looks bright for our region and there is much to recognise and celebrate.” Cr Brown concluded.

Tickets for the gala dinner are still available and can be purchased from the Performing Arts Centre box office for $55 per person.
