Excitement builds for 2019 Business Awards

19 September 2019

The countdown is on to unveil the winners at the highly anticipated 2019 Telstra Southern Grampians Shire Business Awards.

Businesses from the tourism, retail, trades, agriculture, professional service and other sectors are among those to be named as finalists early next week.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor, Cr Mary-Ann Brown said there was an increase in the number of entries this year with the standard being extremely competitive.

“An impressive number of applications were submitted, many being first time entrants, highlighting the value the business sector places on our local awards program,” Cr Brown said.

“We have a diverse, energetic business community and the awards nomination process has again showcased the incredible depth of passion that thrives in our local business sector,” Cr Brown said.

"This will be the 23rd year the awards have been held and it is now established as the premier event on the business calendar. The awards are one of my favourite events of the year as it allows us to celebrate business successes and applaud those who are really making their mark on our region.” Cr Mary-Ann Brown said.

Ensuring the festivities run smoothly on the night will be James Freemantle. Hamilton born and bred, James has been invited to host this year’s awards, as a highly experienced TV presenter and producer, and more recently an accredited facilitator and business coach.

“I encourage all those in the business community to take the opportunity to head along to the gala awards night. The local business sector contributes significantly to the economic and social wellbeing of our community and the evening is always a special night to celebrate what it means to be considered among ‘the best of the best’ in the region.” Cr Brown concluded.

Council welcome and acknowledge returning sponsors, particularly Telstra who are once again the naming rights sponsor for the event, along with our media partners, ACE Radio and Hamilton Spectator.

Tickets for the gala dinner are on sale now and can be purchased from the Performing Arts Centre box office for $55 per person.
