Southern Grampians Shire Council is undertaking a review its Planning Scheme to improve how it operates in achieving better land use and development outcomes. Every four years municipalities in Victoria are required to report the findings of the review to the Minister for Planning.
The Planning Scheme is important because it is a legal document that identifies land use objectives, policies and controls and regulates how land can be used and developed in the Shire.
So far, the review has included an internal audit of the planning scheme and a draft report has been prepared that Council has recommended for consultation.
Council now wants to hear from the community on how well the planning scheme is performing and is also seeking feedback on the findings contained in the draft report.
