Council advises the outdoor pool season will be extended from 13 March to 2 April (weekends only).
With a warm forecast predicted, pools in Balmoral, Glenthompson, Dunkeld, Coleraine and Penshurst will open on weekends until Monday 2 April (weather permitting).
Weekday swimming will finish after the traditional Labour Day long weekend closure (13 March), however early morning swimming will continue in Coleraine until the Monday 2 April.
Hamilton Olympic Swimming Pool will remain open weekdays and weekends until 2 April (weather permitting).
Southern Grampians Shire Mayor Mary-Ann Brown said Council were pleased to be able to extend the season beyond the labour-day weekend, stating this pool season had been a big improvement on previous years.
“We are proud that we have been able to deliver a much improved service to our communities this year. Pools have been opened when we said they would be, apart from a couple of technical issues early on at Glenthompson.
“A big push on recruitment at the start of the season meant that we didn’t have the issues of closures due to staff unavailability that we’ve suffered in previous years. Pools were well attended across the Shire throughout summer and the feedback from our community has been very positive.
“We hope community members take the opportunity to enjoy the pools over the last few weekends in March and thank everyone for their patronage over this season,” Cr Brown said.
