Welcoming New Residents to our Shire

15 May 2018

New residents to the Greater Hamilton region in the past 12 to 18 months are encouraged to meet other newcomers and find out more about the region at Council’s New Resident’s function later this month.

This year’s function will be held on Monday 28 May at the Hamilton Visitor Information Centre, Lonsdale Street Hamilton commencing at 6pm.

The night will be an informal gathering to extend a warm welcome to our new residents, with a variety of information available to assist new residents in settling into the community and our region. Light refreshments and finger food will be provided throughout the event.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Cr Mary-Ann Brown encouraged newcomers to take advantage of this opportunity to familiarise themselves with the region and meet some new friends.

“I am excited to meet all of the new people who have chosen to call this wonderful part of the world their home. Our shire is an exceptional place to live, raise a family and work so we want to welcome you and introduce you to the many different aspects of life to be lived and enjoyed here.

“I encourage any interested new residents to come along to this night and learn more about the wide range of outstanding facilities, services, clubs and groups that are available in the Southern Grampians Shire,” she concluded.

Residents wishing to attend should RSVP to Alison Quade on aquade@sthgrampians.vic.gov.au or by calling 5573 0433 by Thursday 24 May.

Community groups and sporting clubs from across the Shire are also invited to provide information to new residents about their group. If any group or club are interested in attending or providing information, please contact Alison on 5573 0433.
