Local Leaders met with Iluka Resources management today to discuss a way forward for affected workers, following last Tuesday’s announcement about the suspension of operations at the Hamilton Mineral Separation Plant.

Dan Tehan, Federal Member for Wannon; Emma Kealy, State Member for Lowan; Cr. Mary-Ann Brown, Mayor of Southern Grampians Shire and Michael Tudball, CEO Southern Grampians Shire Council met with Dean Menzel, Hamilton Mineral Separation Plant Manager at the offices of the Southern Grampians Shire.

“We scheduled this meeting to discuss how all levels of Government in the region could work together with Iluka Resources to sort through the outcomes of the suspension decision and minimise the impact”.

“We are committed to cooperating to find options to support affected workers and their families and to exploring solutions to reinforce the local economy in Hamilton”.

“This is a disappointing situation for all and it is vitally important that we rally together to support each other and our community during the coming weeks and months”.
