2017 Telstra Southern Grampians Shire Business Awards Now Open

8 March 2017

The search is now on for the 2017 Southern Grampians Shire Business of the Year.

Nominations are now open for the annual Business Awards, proudly supported by new naming rights sponsor Telstra. Telstra has a long history of support for business awards and Council are proud to partner with them in these awards.

The Ace Radio network continues their involvement of more than 20 years and will be media partners together with the Hamilton Spectator.

Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Manager Hugh Koch said the awards have been held for more than 20 years and are now established as the premier event on the business calendar.

“The awards last year were an outstanding success and now with the involvement of Telstra, we are anticipating an exciting presentation evening again this year."

Mr Koch also said he was extremely pleased that previous judge Kevin Bennett would again be involved in the judging process.

“Kevin has vast experience in coaching, mentoring and working with businesses to improve their processes and performance. He will work with businesses that enter the awards to review their operations and provide feedback on improving their business processes” Mr Koch said.

Kelly Thomas from Gen Health, last year’s Business of the Year encouraged other businesses to look at entering this year’s awards.

“Being a part of the 2016 Southern Grampians Shire business awards was invaluable way for us to review our business practices, and challenged us to think about every aspect of our operation, not just the obvious day-to-day business. It pushed us to consider how we could improve our service for the community."

“The community were also able to learn more what we do here, and gain a greater understanding of our industry.”

“We would highly recommend every local business get involved - you have absolutely nothing to lose, and only inspiration and learning to gain!” Kelly said.

Entry forms are now available on Council’s website at www.sthgrampians .vic.gov.au/businessawards and entries close Friday 7 April.

The gala presentation evening will be held on 23 June 2017 at the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre. Last year was a great celebration of our local business community and Council are looking forward to another bumper night this year.
