Starting a Business

Council's Economic Development Department provides services and a range of projects to help build the capacity of existing businesses and attract investment into the region.

Business Prospectus

Our Business Prospectus is an interactive guide to understanding the local economy and contains extensive reports and statistics on the region. We understand that every business is unique, so you can be confident that we’ll work closely with you to tailor a solution to best meet your needs. Using Council’s diverse resources we can help you by providing the information and support that you need to make sound business decisions. We’re also happy to liaise with our contacts in local agencies on your behalf.

Building your Business

If you are looking for vacant industrial land or a prime CBD commercial site we can help you find a suitable location for your enterprise. Planning scheme information can assist with your planning permit and building permit applications.

Setting up your Business

When you have established your business in Southern Grampians Shire we can introduce you to the support services and development organisations that can help you with business networking, staff training and access to funding opportunities.

Agricultural Prospectus

Agriculture is the major industry of the Southern Grampians Shire and our Council supports the productive use of agricultural land and values the new opportunities and additional income streams diversification brings to our agricultural sector. In 2014 Southern Grampians Shire Council undertook a new research project, which aimed to encourage greater diversification of the agricultural land and to explore the long term capabilities and suitability of land in the region. The agricultural prospectus, explanation document and online maps can be found at www.growingreaterhamilton.com.au
