South West Landscape Assessment Study

Planisphere was been commissioned by the State Government to undertake a landscape assessment of the Barwon South West and Grampians Regions of Western Victoria in early 2012.

The project will identify and map the character and significance of landscapes across these rural areas. The project extends the work of the Coastal Spaces Landscape Assessment Study, 2006 (in which Planisphere assessed the significance of the entire Victorian coastline) into the hinterland areas of the South West corner of the State.

Working in partnership with 16 municipalities and key agencies, the project will prepare a comprehensive management framework and, where appropriate, planning scheme provisions for protecting and managing landscape values.

The South West region of Victoria has a wide range of landscape types from the volcanic plains and cones that dominate much of the area, to the Great Dividing Range in the north, and the Grampians in the central west.
