Southern Grampians Shire Council's Environmental Health Unit provides a variety of health and environmental protection services to residents, businesses and visitors and is committed to provide a healthy community in a healthy environment within the Shire.
 
It is responsible for:
 Identifying and monitoring public health issues;
 compliance with the Food Act 1984, Residential Tenancies Act 1997, Tobacco Act 1987 and Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 legislation;
 Dealing with food related complaints;
 Providing advice to food, accommodation, hairdresser, beautician, tattooing, piercing and skin penetration businesses;
 Tobacco education;
 Managing noise and odour issues to protect residential amenity;
 Safe needle disposal;
 Septic tank installation and alter approvals;
 Monitoring of Lake Hamilton and other recreation water quality.
 

The Environmental Health Officer is located at Council's Market Place Business Centre, 1 Market Place, Hamilton and can be contacted on (03) 5573 0256.
